Racism - watch it on BBC Panorama... what are you doing about it?

This is racism. Two undercover reporters have clearly exposed the truth about many people's views about racism in this country.

Words can't describe how I felt watching this. No wonder reporter Tamanna Rahman was crying and fearful. She was smashed in the face and victim of an attempted mugging, among other abuse.

Just watch and read to be horrified:

BBC Panaroma film on racism and anti-social behaviour in Bristol

Soon we hope Sean Ganderton is locked away behind bars (in fact, that should happen this very night, else there's no justice in this country), and 11-year-old Sonny Clark faces some public authority 'intervention'. That's two names to watch out for and avoid in the future.

(If you are a friend of Sean Ganderton on Facebook, I trust you will quietly leave his friendship network.)

Why name Sonny Clark, aged 11? Because he threatened to knife Tamanna. He is a killer in the making, surely.

  2. Sonny Clark is indeed a murderer in the making. Ganderton will soon be behind bars. Neither can read I expect. White-trash Brits - send Ganderton to Afghanistan - he deserves it.

  3. The Police should and without hesitation have this man Sean Ganderton arrested immediatley.
The Government, Chief Justice and Law Legislators of the United Kingdom cannot ignore this racist behaviour. The race relations act comes to mind. I want Sean Ganderton removed from Facebook and Bebo networking sites and imprisoned. I am embarrassed to be English with these types of idiots roaming the streets.

  4. Totally agree. I was shocked & disgusted that this goes on anywhere in UK. I think Sonny should be taken into foster care immediately - and re-educated. Sean should serve time, and then be deported to India to learn tolerance.

  5. Absolute pure scum, I serious think this scoiety would be better rid of the feral attitude which isn't only racist, but anti democratic and undermines anything fought for by the majority of our grandparents.

    Shame on them.

  6. I've added Sean Ganderton's Facebook account link to the main post. Hopefully, Facebook will just ban him from their service.

  7. I have an idea, that ordinary people can come together to take peaceful and creative action against society's thugs on a case by case basis, slowly building a reputation for effective lawful protest and opposition in our communities, giving other victims an organisation to turn to when the police just wont, or can't step in to help. Not vigilantism, no direct intervention, but creative responses designed to quieten and shame the protagonists. A sort of Amnesty International for our local communities. SOVOP: Secret Order Of Ordinary People. We use our own resources and we come together when necessary, to do what needs to be done, even if its just to write a thousand letters to a trouble maker. Each case will be different and so dealt with differently. A flashmob with a purpose for once. http://twitter.com/SOVOP

  9. I'm white and I've been bullied by scum like this. It's the same in that they are cowards. Always in their groups, never on their own. That's why people like us have jobs, a life and people who care about us. All they have and will ever have is hanging around on street corners.

  10. I was shocked to see this in Bristol. Since I moved to the town I've felt this to be the most tolerant place I've ever lived, I know right wingers even moan about it. But I guess I'm complacent, smug even. Just look to the world around you, is it going on, little cunts looking for a way to bully any opportunity they get? Is this type of racism the result of a wider break down in society? Mrs Thatcher used to opine that there was; "no longer any such thing as society". Is this not her chickens coming home to roost? The dispossessed looking for answers? For someone to blame? Rather than feeling part of a wider community. Yeah these kids are vicious arseholes, but who is there to give them something other than hate? They are pathetic and weak, and I'd like to see them punished, but I wouldn't want them then turned back onto the streets exactly the same. I think to fix these fuckups we've got to fix ourselves. I hope I can help change the Bristol I live in, because it can be a good place.

Sorry, but no. Vigilantism is just wrong and prone to abuse, faulted from the roots. Watch the film 'Dogville' to see how SOVOP ends up.

  11. Decided to publish this last post. I don't agree with it but it's a natural reaction to someone attacking innocent others... self-defence of some sort. That said, over-stepping defence and carrying out pre-emptive attacks to kill must be wrong, surely.

  12. I've had to edit the following anonymous comment - there was too much foul language that it detracted from some useful food for thought:

  13. This abuse comes even to us whites as well. I've been verbally abused and assaulted by these sort of scum before. But you forgot to name Kelly Bray-warner, she was also in the video, stone throwing and racist abuse.

  16. Angry people's comments have been coming thick and fast. I'm not someone who advocates retaliation, as readers of this blog will know, but I wanted to show the deep anger that the racist actions of those shown in the BBC Panorama programme have stirred up.

  17. Sonny has had the most chaotic and traumatic childhood you can imagine. Yes, he's done wrong, but he's only 11 years old. He did not deserve to be named and shamed - he is a CHILD, and now he has little chance of ever living this down. He's a bright lad but chances are he'll now be a crim forever, despite having better prospects. Nice one, Panorama.

  18. Muslim brothers show your abhorrence of racism by acts of immolation.

We must immolate in our hundreds.

  19. I received an anonymous comment from, apparently, a Muslim, and I've just published it - it calls for immolation by fellow Muslims. Immolation is a suicidal, self-sacrificial act of protest.

It's again an indication of the feelings about racism. I obviously don't agree with it - and thought it important to say so, but it does indicate how strong is the depth of feeling felt by at least some against racism.
